John Curnow is an excellent speaker and will bring the subject alive for you.
Wednesday 25 May at Kirby Street Conservative Club. A wonderful opportunity to hear John Curnow speak about the murders at Rillington place.
Sixty and more years on and the murders in London's Notting Hill of the forties & fifties continue to fascinate and spark controversy. John Christie went to the gallows for the murder of his wife; three years earlier the young Timothy Evans had been hanged after confessing to strangling his own wife and infant child. Subsequently granted a royal pardon, Evans was widely believed to have been the victim of a miscarriage of justice, condemned for a murder he did not commit.
Born in the critical year, 1953, and close to the location of the old Rillington Place, John Curnow began investigating for himself and gradually pieced together a story that challenges the now generally accepted version whilst exposing some of the many myths and falsehoods that have grown up around this most harrowing of tales.
Tickets are £5 and include snacks.
