The Conservatives are improving the lives of young people in Ipswich. Our reforms in government mean that in Ipswich alone there have been 6620 new apprenticeships in the the constituency and another 4790 in our neighbouring North Ipswich & Central Suffolk Constituency. This is giving our young people a great start to their working life and hope for the future.
The national unemployment rate for 18-24 year olds not in full time education is 10.7 per cent – a joint record low.
We are investing an extra £500m in technical education. We will increase the number of training hours for 16-19 year old further education students by over 50 per cent when fully rolled out, with 15 new technical routes and a high-quality work placement for every student.
There are 1.8 million more pupils being taught in good or outstanding schools since 2010. The number has increased from 4.8 million in 2010 to 6.6 million in November 2016.
Whilst the local and national Labour party and their union paymasters protest daily about anything they can think of, the Conservatives are steadily getting on with making lives better for young people here in Ipswich and across the country.
