Each December, St Augustine’s Church in Bucklesham Road joins forces with Rushmere Christian Fellowship (which meets at St Alban’s High School) to hold an outdoor carol service on the green near to Penshurst Road shops in Broke Hall Estate.
Despite some rather wet conditions, the service was attended by a near record number of residents. Bible readings were performed by church members plus Ben Gummer MP and Paul West (Suffolk County Councillor for Bixley). The congregation enjoyed singing all their favourite carols, accompanied by the Ipswich Hospital Band. A entertaining musical show was performed (under umbrellas!) with puppets dancing and miming along to some jazzed up Christmas songs.
The Conservative Councillors in Bixley donated their locality funds to assist the organisers in paying for the event again this year, to offset the costs for the organising churches.
If you know of organisations or community groups which have need for small grants for specific projects, then please do contact your nearest Conservative councillor (see the People Page) who will be able to advise on options of sourcing funds.
