Following the Ipswich General Election Result, Tom wrote "Reform and Reform voters are not to blame for the catastrophic result that took place last night. The warning signs were very clear. Myself and others raised our concerns time and time again. Unless the Conservative Party learns the lessons fast it will be supplanted as the preeminent force on the right of British politics. It does not have a God given right to have this role.
"It was the honour of my life to have served Ipswich for four and half years and I wish my successor all the very best.
"I don’t know what comes next but a part of me will always be Ipswich."
