Suffolk County Council has won government funding to support Superfast Broadband for the whole of Suffolk, offering speeds of up to 100 mbps to 100% of homes and businesses across the county by 2020. Also announced this week was the new Enterprise Zone for Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, which will bring hundreds of new jobs and businesses to benefit the whole county. Rushmere County and Borough Councillor, Judy Terry, who is Economics Portfolio holder at SCC, comments, "We have been working extremely hard with the Local Enterprise Partnership and government over the last few months to deliver these outcomes, which will hugely improve our local economy. "We are developing strategies to ensure that local people have the professional skills which new and existing employers desperately need. There are fantastic career opportunities being created, especially in the green energy sector and tourism, as well as port logistics. Businesses are keen to help us communicate the message through schools, colleges and amongst those who may have been unemployed and wish to retrain."
