MORE LABOUR HYPOCRISY AS THEY INCREASE COUNCIL HOUSE RENTS IN IPSWICH
According to Labour, there is a ‘cost of living crisis’ .
Despite that, the Labour administration in Ipswich has voted to increase council house rents by a further 5.5%, bringing the total increase since they returned to power in Ipswich in 2011 to a staggering £600 per annum.
Labour’s argument appears to be that with so many council tenants on housing benefit, such increases don’t actually matter because they won’t have to pay it themselves!
However, the rest of us – who, according to Ed Miliband are also suffering from a cost of living crisis - are paying it instead – through our taxes. Taxes which he would love to increase if ever he gets the keys to No.10.
Thanks to Labour’s largesse during its 13 years in government, the UK already has the largest welfare spend of any country in the world, paying 25% of the global total.
And that is the reason why the Labour Treasury Minister, Liam Byrne, left a note stating ‘there’s no money left’ when Labour were voted out of office in 2010. Labour cannot be trusted with the nation’s finances, let alone those of towns like Ipswich.
