Ben is a keen advocate for more trees in our town because they make our streets more beautiful and bring environmental and health benefits.
The Railway Station forecourt re-design originally had no trees included in the design until Ben intervened and the council agreed to plant 16 new trees.
The re-design of the Major's Corner Island was originally just for paving, until Ben persuaded the council to include 3 trees.
In Westbury Road in Rushmere Ward, residents were worried that trees were being cut down and not replaced. After a long campaign, Ben managed to get the council to agree to replace every tree that has been removed -not just in Westbury Road but across the town. Therefore 139 recently removed trees will be replaced, and improve local street scenes with these new trees.
This demonstrates Ben intervening locally across the town, when such issues are normally just issues for local councillors to investigate. Where councillors have omitted or unable to act, Ben has, and achieved worthy results.
