Following Ipswich Buses scrapping parts of bus route 19 in North West Ipswich, your Conservative Councillors in Castle Hill and Whitton Wards -Erion Xhaferaj, Robin Vickery & Chris Stewart, met with the new managing director of the bus company, to convey the concerns of residents in the area, especially older residents who rely on public transport to get to town. With the support of Dr Dan Poulter MP as well, the councillors are delighted that this new bus service route 17 commenced on 29 February. The service runs from Stratford Court in Stratford Road, Monday to Friday from 9.15am, via Congreve Road & Henley Road to Tower Ramparts and a return service at 11.35am. Conservative Whitton Councillor Erion said “Local Labour councillors failed to stand up for local residents’ objections when they reduced the subsidy for the previous service. Residents contacted me and I got in touch with Mr Cooper at Ipswich Buses to come up with some new ideas. I am pleased that we have now come up with a solution.” Castle Hill Councillor Robin said “We need residents to strongly support this new service for it to continue for the long term. If it is well supported, then we will be able to go back to Mr Cooper to ask for further improvements to this route.” Local Conservatives get positive action for Ipswich– vote for your Conservative Candidates on Thursday 5 May.
