Friday is the day that postal vote ballots start dropping on peoples door mats across the Town. It's important to realise that this isn't just about which Party you want Governing the country but also which individual candidate who want representing Ipswich locally.
The context nationally is challenging and it's not impossible that Ipswich could end up with MP locally who is a different political colour from the Party that governs the country nationally. Most of the local polls currently have the Labour candidate ahead but it's important to recognise that none of these polls take into account local factors and the reputations of the respective candidates. Certainly going about the Town it has been very humbling to come across Ipswich voters who're voting for the man and not the Party. This is something that no scrapped down national poll of Ipswich will take into account.
I appreciate Reform is a tempting option for many. The Ipswich Reform candidate is a nice bloke and I've enjoyed getting to know him over the past few weeks but the reality is even the most gloomy polls of Ipswich have the Conservatives comfortably ahead of Reform in Ipswich. I can't speak for what is happening in other areas of the country. It will clearly vary. On July 5th you will wake up to either me or the Labour candidate as your MP. The Labour candidate who let me remind you made multiple visits to the Calais camps as a show of solidarity for those seeking illegal entry into our country and a Labour candidate who attended what looked to me like a pro-open borders rally outside the Novotel.
A number of my friends are in the Reform Party. This includes Lee Anderson who became the first Reform MP in Ashfield Notts. Lee has been to Ipswich before to support me and I have no doubt that if he was an Ipswich resident in the privacy of the polling station he would lend me a personal vote to continue being his MP. It saddens me that at this time going into the election I'm not on the same side as Lee but we're where we're for now.
You should all be receiving my latest newspaper detailing my record over the past four and a half years and during that time I've made it abundantly clear what my views are and what drives me.
Here are three reasons to vote for me:
I'm the one check to the failing Labour led council. On issues like the Town centre I go off the thousands of conversations I have with Ipswich residents and I refuse to be shouted down by Ipswich Labour for "talking down the Town". They have failed our Town centre so it's not surprising they're sensitive about it but I will not be deterred. I will always speak as I find and there is something seriously wrong when thousands of local residents are shunning their own Town centre because the Borough Council are failing to adopt a zero tolerance approach to crime and anti-social behaviour.
Common sense on immigration. I've been one of the most vocal MP's in Parliament on this issue. I've called for the most robust approach possible to the small boats and really mean it when I say we should do "whatever it takes to stop the boats". I ensured the Novotel was one of the first hotels in the country to be returned to its proper use and if re-elected I will continue to be a leading voice on this issue.
A passionate champion. I worked tirelessly for four and a half years to serve Ipswich residents. Me and my office supported over

A passionate champion. I worked tirelessly for four and a half years to serve Ipswich residents. Me and my office supported over 20,000 Ipswich residents with individual issues. Always prepared to speak my mind and go against the prevailing views both within my own Party and outside if I think it's best for the Town. I've been independently minded since I was elected and that would continue to be the case. The more I see of the local Labour candidate the more he appears from he would be the spokesperson for the Labour Party in Ipswich and not the voice of Ipswich in Parliament. Also don't forget. Special Educational Needs. I have a national role campaigning on the cause closest to my heart. As someone with learning disabilities myself losing this platform would be one of the saddest thing for me.
I totally get peoples frustrations with the entire Westminster establishment. I also get the desire for change. I fear with Labour you will not get the "change" you want. Worse than that, I actually think you'll get a lot more of the things you hate in spades. Voting Reform would understandably feel good for many, however when the most likely outcome of this action is to increase the chances of the out of touch Labour candidate being elected I do not think it would be a wise course of action. Please stick with me. By voting for me you're not voting for a faceless Party candidate. You're voting for a passionate advocate for this Town and for change.
The result in Ipswich is not a forgone conclusion. I’ve been speaking to thousands of residents over the past few weeks and this is definitely not the sense I’ve got. It’s in our own hands. It’s either me or the local Labour candidate.
