REFURBISHED BIXLEY PLAY AREA OPENED
The Mayor opened the refurbished play area in Cherry Lane Recreation Ground today (Saturday 29 March). This recreation ground is in the north west corner of Bixley Ward between Rushmere Road and Woodbridge Road.
Funding for the scheme came from a Viridor landfill tax credits scheme, from the Borough Council’s North East Committee, and donations from county councillors’ locality budgets, including Conservatives Alan Murray (Bixley) and Judy Terry (former Rushmere county councillor) and Labour members.
Local resident Jim Jenner was the project lead on this scheme and attended the formal opening alongside the Mayor.

Cllr Kym Stroet thanked Mr Jenner for all his hard work and dedication in the last 2 years in getting this project off the ground.
Bixley Conservative candidate Eddy Phillips said “It was great to see so many local residents attend the formal opening this morning and the kids enjoying themselves on the new equipment. Even late this afternoon there were still loads of parents and their children having a great time in the sunshine, far more than you would normally see on a Saturday afternoon in the park. Great news all round.”
