When potential cuts threatened the Sidegate Lane Primary School’s school crossing patrol local Conservative Councillor, Judy Terry, decided to take matters into her own hands.
Together with Rushmere activist, Pam Kelly, they approached a local business to sponsor the crossing patrol and secure its future.
Local Estate Agents, Jonathan Waters, were ‘thrilled’ to be asked and, as soon as a new patrol person can be recruited, it will be reinstated.
Judy says, “We believe this is the first sponsorship deal for school crossings in the country, and I congratulate Jonathan Waters for supporting the school and local community. This is what the Big Society is all about, ensuring that local people and businesses play their part as we try to tackle the disastrous budget deficit left by the last Labour government.”
