This Saturday I attended Maureen’s Summer Fair in Mersey Road. This was held to raise funds for The Grove Sanctuary in Felixstowe. I was quite amazed at the work which is done by Sheila Fahy who started up this small independent charity to give a loving home to ill treated horses and ponies. Over the years it has broadened its aims to encompass the needs of many other animals. One of the most valuable aspects of their work is to enable senior citizens to keep their much loved pets (and sometimes their only companion) by helping with vet fees and food. Most of the fund raising is done by Sheila through boot sales and an awful lot of keeping the Sanctuary going is funded by her and her sister by still working in the health sector. An unsung hero if ever there was one. Maureen raised £326 so well done.
