After nearly 10 years of inactivity, Regatta Quay (the Winerack Development) will now be completed and turned into 149 residential apartments, commercial spaces and will create 56 new jobs. Much of the credit for this can be given to Ben Gummer, MP for Ipswich.
Six years ago, Ben arranged for the nationalised Irish owners of the site to come across to the UK and visit it, and from this point onwards, he has been working hard with various organisations to finally get this project to continue.
Now the Conservative Government's Homes and Community Agency is putting in £15m to kick-start the project, and a further £5m from the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership.
Local developers John Howard and Jeremy Scowsill through their company Ipswich Wharf Developments are hoping that the building work will start later this year.
This project is happening because of the tireless work of Ben Gummer fighting and delivering for Ipswich.
