Conservative County Councillor for St Margaret's and Westgate, Chris Chambers, has been named Deputy Cabinet Member for Education at Suffolk County Council in last week’s annual meeting by new Council leader Cllr Matthew Hicks.
Chris commented “I am incredibly proud to be appointed to this role. I am deeply passionate about education, raising standards of teaching and making sure young people leave school with the necessary skills to lead a successful life beyond education.
I look forward to getting started in this new role under the leadership of Cllr Gordon Jones. Everyone in the administration understands we must continue to give our children the best opportunities in life and that starts in the classroom.”
Cllr Eddy Phillips, Borough Group Deputy Leader congratulated Chris on this appointment and said "This is great news for Ipswich and the whole of Suffolk - Chris will be a great advocate in helping our local children get the chances they deserve."
