This year, with the help of our Associate Rotarian members, the Ipswich East Rotary Club are adding a whole new dimension to the Orwell Walk – The Orwell Cycle, you may have seen this launched recently in the local press or heard it on BBC Radio Suffolk. There are three routes for walkers to choose from and two routes for cyclists, each of these routes passes through a number of checkpoints where cards are marked to confirm distances walked or cycled and those taking part can take the opportunity to rest and take in the scenery, which as the name suggests, covers some of the most picturesque parts of the Orwell Estuary.
Cyclists and Walkers are sponsored and can choose their own favourite charity to support with 25% of their fundraising going to the Ipswich East Rotary Club who support local charities and also volunteer their services each year for free to make this event possible. Last year’s Orwell Walk raised over £60,000 in one day for local charities – with your help we can make that total even bigger for 2013.
